Movie : Seo Bok

Title : Seo Bok
Leads : Gong Yoo, Park Bo-Gum

Seo Bok was finally released in cinemas and streaming sites in April 2021 after a year delay due to covid. I managed to catch the movie last weekend via IQIY.

Seo Bok is a Korean Sci-Fi movie starring Gong Yoo (Min Gi Heon) and Park Bo-Gum (Seo Bok).

Synopsis :
Seo Bok is a successful human clone specimen created through stem cell cloning and genetic engineering. He was created for the sole purpose of producing cells that would enable immortality. The experiment has been kept a secret until now.

The lab was in a rush to relocate Seo Bok to a safer location after one of their scientists were killed. That is when Min Gi Heon, a former intelligence agent was called in to carry out the task of protecting Seo Bok.

This movie is yet another reminder for human beings to not try to do God's work. We are created, born to live our life on earth and we are to die after. That is the cycle of life. The experiment they were doing by creating Seo Bok was to enable immortality. The idea of Seo Bok originated from a grieving mother but it soon became an obsession for others who saw it as an opportunity for eternal life.

Personally for me, the message of the movie is nothing new. The storyline was predictable and so was the ending. But, was it a total flop? I wouldn't say so. It was still a good watch. Clear story telling and decent acting.

Have you seen the movie? What did you think about it?
